Visa part 2

Vers la fin de la semaine passee j'ai recu une petite carte postale qui m'annoncait que mon renouvellement de visa etait pret et que je devais passer le prendre au bureau de l'immigration d'ici le 12 fevrier.

Mardi de cette semaine j'ai donc du me farcir un autre voyage jusqu'a Shinagawa (sur mes heures de travail) pour aller chercher ce qui en fait n'est qu'une etampe de 1cm par 1cm sur mon passeport. Il semble aussi que toutes la bureaucratie necessaire pour etendre mon permis de travail coute au gouvernement 4 000 Yen (40$) qu'il c'est bien sur empresse de me demander avant de me remettre mon visa. Mon visa est donc renouvelle pour trois ans cette fois. J'ai demande trois ans en me disant qu'au moins maintenant si je perd ma job, si je decide de changer de job ou si je decide de rester plus longtemps je n'aurai pas besoin de renouveller avant un bon bout de temps. Je me suis presente le plus tot possible, les bureaux ouvraient a 9h et j'etait sur place a 9h30. Malgre tout j'ai du attendre un peu. Mais surtout, avec le transport, je suis arrive au bureau vers les 11h45. Ce qui veut dire que j'ai du travailler jusqu'a environ 8h30 du soir. Ce genre d'horaire est commun pour les japonais il semble, mais moi ca ne me plait pas du tout. Aussi, le mercredi j'ai du aller a la mairie de mon cartier pour faire mettre a jour ma carte d'etrange. A la mairie, je croyais qu'ils allaient vouloir me refaire une nouvelle carte, mais finalement ils n'ont que coller une petite note a l'endo specifiant la nouvelle duree de mon visa alors ce fut pas mal rapide.

Around friday last week I got a little post card from the immigration office to tell me that my visa renewal process was complete and that I needed to come and get it before the 12th of February.

So Tuesday I saddled forth and went for another trip around the Yamanote, all the way to Shinagawa (when I should have been at work of course). In the end, all I got was a small 1cm by 1cm stamp on my passeport. However, all the governmental work required for this seem to have costed the japanese gouvernment about 4 000 Yen (40$), which it immediatly asked me to pay for before handing over my visa. But anyway, now my visa is renewed for three years. I asked for three because I though like that It wouldn't matter if I want to change job, if I lose my current job or if I want to stay much longer. That way I won't have to renew for a long time. I tried to get there as soon as possible, the place oppened at 9h and I was at the entrence by 9h30. Even then, I had to wait a bit. But for the most part, it was the travelling between my house and Shinagawa and then Shinagawa to work that took the most time. I got to work around 11h45 Tuesday. That means I had to leave past 8h30 in the evening. This kind of schedule seems to be very common for japanese workers, but I still find it quite annoying. Also, the next day I had to go to my city office to get my foreigner registration updated (mendatory within 14 days). I though they would want to make me a new card, but in the end they just put some sticker on the back stating my new visa's length. So all in all that went pretty fast.
