Fuchu くらやみ祭り

Aujourd'hui a la une du blog : Festival dans le district de Fuchu (府中) samedi dernier. J'ai deja assiste a deux ou trois festivals depuis que je suis au Japon. Un de ceux-la a ete le relativement repute Danjiri Matsuri a Osaka avec des bateaux sur roues faisant la course dans les rues de la ville (detruisant parfois des buildings sur leur passage). Le festival a Fuchu etait nettement plus tranquille, mais il y avait toutefois toutes les caracteristiques typiques d'un festival Japonais. Beaucoup de monde, des stands de jeux, de nourriture, des casse-croutes, du monde, des habits traditionnels, des ceremonies et bien du plaisir !

Le festival se deroulait surtout en soiree mais nous sommes arrives (moi et Keiko qui m'a gentiment invite au festival) vers 14h30. Cela nous a laisse le temps de visiter le temple (en anglais "shrine" mais je crois qu'il n'y a pas de vrai traduction en francais). Nous avons pu voir les tambours geants (la "specialite" du festival) de tres pres. On les appelles "taiko". Ces trucs sont sonnent plus grave que le plus puissant subwoofer que j'ai jamais entendu ! En soiree, vers 19h, c'etait le defile des お神輿 (o-mikoshi), la traduction la plus proche est : "temple portable" mais c'est un peu douteux comme traduction je crois. Il faisait tres noir, malgre les millions de photos que j'ai prises, je n'en ai que quelques unes suffisamment passables a presenter ! Et voila, Golden Week est termine. C'est quand meme agreable autant de conges aussi rapproches. Le probleme c'est que ca fait beaucoup de monde en conge en meme temps (deja qu'il y a pas mal de monde au Japon...) alors je n'ai pas insiste et outre le festival je n'ai pas ete plus loin que Chiba. Maintenant c'est le retour au train-train quotidien, ou presque. Je suis encore au Japon, j'ai encore tant de choses a voir, a apprendre, a faire !! J'essaie de me faire une liste mais elle ne fait que grandir a l'infini. Dur dur. Je crois que bientot je vais essayer d'aller faire une bonne petite randonnee. Cela fait bien longtemps, et le Japon se prete tres bien au randonnees pedestres ! Je ne vais peut-etre pas commencer par le Mont Fuji, lui je l'attend vers la fin aout. D'ici la, un peu d'entrainement ne ferait pas de tort.

Today's headline : Festival in Fuchu (府中) last Saturday. I have already laid my eyes upon two or three japanese festivals since I came here. One of those was the somewhat reputed Danjiri Matsuri in Osaka with wood boats on wheel racing through the streets (sometimes destroying buildings on their way). The festival in Fuchu wasn't such an dangerous event but it had everything a Japanese festival should have. Lots and lots of people, game stands, food stands, snack stands, traditionnal outfits, sumptuous ceremonies and of course, lots of fun !

The festival main event was mostly later in the evening but we (me and Keiko who was kind enough to invite me) arrived there at around 14h30. This gave us the time to visit the shrine and see the giant drums from up close (the "speciality" of this festival). These things are called "Taiko", they produce the deepest sound I have ever heard, no subwoofer can even come close to this ! In the evening, around 7 o'clock, it was the march of お神輿 (o-mikoshi). The official english translation is "portable shrine" but I'm not sure I completly agree with that. It was quite dark around seven or eight so even tough I took a sizable amount of pictures, there is only so much I can present to you without shame. They are, however, all public and this mean you can click on it for a full size picture ! (for those of you who might be so inclined...)

So that's it really, Golden Week is over. This was very pleasant, so much holiday in one single week. Of course, the problem with national holidays is that everyone in Japan is on vacation at the same time, so travel is a little bit difficult. Which is why beside Fuchu festival I didn't go farter than Chiba this weekend. Now it's back to normal work, as far as "working in Japan" is not quite "normal" yet for me. I still have many things to see, to do, to experiment ! I'm trying to keep a list of things to do, but it just keeps on getting bigger without sign of shortening ! I think one of the next things I might do is a little bit of hicking. It's been a while and Japan is one very nice place to go hicking. I might not start with Fuji tough, but I'm thinking about him for the end of august. So before that, I need a little training.

Meme si un festival japonais est la chose la plus traditionnelle qui soit, n'oublions tout de meme pas ou nous sommes : La capitale du cellulaire !
