Fun time

Apres mure hesitation, je me suis decide en fin de semaine a aller faire un tour a Akihabara pour m'acheter un Nintendo DS. Ca faisait longtemps que j'y pensais (depuis que je suis arrive au Japon en fait). Mais avec les nouvelles consoles qui sont sorties pas longtemps avant ou apres mon arrive, j'etait hesitant. La Wii est bien tentante aussi. Et quand meme, la puissance des graphiques et la possibilite de jouer des jeux de Playstation 2 rendait la PS3 aussi un choix potentiel (malgre son prix exorbitant). Finalement, l'attrait du train et la multitude de jeux que j'ai vu presentes au Tokyo Game Show m'on decide.

Il faut comprendre qu'acheter une console au Japon pour moi etait un "Must". Apres tout, 90% des meilleurs jeux videos viennent du Japon ! C'est aussi une tres bonne pratique de lecture du Japonais. D'ailleur je ne serait certainement pas aussi naturel en englais si ce n'etait pas des millions d'heure que j'ai mis sur ces diaboliques et menacants jeux videos.

D'ailleur, pour justifier l'achat j'ai d'abord et avant tout achete un jeu pour apprendre les kanjis (大人の漢字練習, ou dans une langue que vous pourrez comprendre : etude des kanjis pour adulte).

J'ai aussi achete un RPG qui me semblait amusant ("It's a wonderful world", le titre est vraiment charmant !). J'aimerais bien pouvoir dire que je vais passer les 40 prochaines heures a y jouer, malheureusement mon temps libre n'est plus ce qu'il etait. J'ai bien espoir en revanche que la console va reduire mon impatience dans les trains qui pulule la petite ile qui est devenu mon domaine.



After much deliberation, I decided this weekend to take a walk to Akihabara and buy a Nintendo DS. I had been thinking about it for quite some time (since I came to Japan actually). But with all the new game console that came out around the time I came to Japan I couldn't quite decide myself. The Wii is also very tempting. The graphical processing power and the fact that I could keep playing my PS2 games made the PS3 a fairly attractive choice also (considering it's monstrous price). But all in all, the portable like in : "play in the train" aspect of the DS and the shear amount of game I saw coming up at the Tokyo Game Show made me buy it.

You have to understand that buying a console in Japan was an absolute must for me. After all, 90% of all my favorite video games comes from Japan ! And I have to consider the very interesting reading practice a good Japanese game could give me. I am quite certain that a lot of my English comes from the millions of hours I put into those wretched video games (beside also probably making me the psychopath I am now).

That's why I justified the money spend by having my first game be a kanji study game called 大人の漢字練習, or for those that don't understand such thing : Kanji study for adults.

I also bough an RPG which seemed fun enough (called "It's a wonderful world", nice title no ?) I would like to say that the next 40 hours will be dedicated to a relaxing yet exhilarating time wasting activity, sadly my free time is not what it used to be. I will however hope that this game will seemingly reduce the long hours spent in trains here and there on the little island that became my residence.
